Welcome to my efolio! My name is May Vang. I am a 2008 University of St. Thomas (in St. Paul, MN) alumna. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics with a minor in Psychology. I received my teaching license for the state of Minnesota in 5-12 mathematics. In this efolio, you can find the Minnesota Standards of Effective Practice and artifacts that show proof of having met these standards. I also have links to the schools I have worked in and descriptions of my experiences. Becoming a teacher has always been part of my career goals. My parents never discouraged me, but they told me to keep my options open. I kept it open, and yet, I found myself coming back to education every time I had to picture myself in a profession. I also knew right away that I would want to teach math. It was natural for me to gravitate toward math because I always found myself tutoring and helping classmates with math. Having had great math teachers all throughout my K-12 education, I hope to someday be half as great as they are. I am currently not teaching math, but I am teaching English as a second language in a small town in Japan. My hopes for this experience is to broaden my sense of education and to use this experience to enhance my pursue of a K-12 ELL license. |
